Stan plans foundry and machine-tool expansion in Sterlitamak
Stan plans a Sterlitamak foundry and machine-tool expansion with new casting and assembly capacities proposed in two stages through 2028, authorities have said.

A two-stage expansion
Stan plans a machine-tool cluster in Bashkiria, Russia, with investment exceeding 7 billion rubles through 2028, the regional authorities said.
The proposed stages comprise:
- RT-StanLit: construction starting in spring 2024, a 2026 foundry launch, over 3.5 billion rubles, 5,200 tonnes of castings annually and 237 jobs;
- NPO Stankostroenie: expansion beginning in 2027, over 4 billion rubles and a 40,000-square-metre assembly shop with annual capacity for 120 machine tools.

The foundry would cast gray and high-strength iron. Its approximately 15,500-square-metre shop would occupy part of a site exceeding four hectares.
The second stage also covers logistics and exhibition centres, modernisation of existing lines, renewal of engineering and electrical networks, a transformer substation, communications and roads.
Production and service operations
Stan’s five factories in Moscow, Kolomna, Ivanovo, Ryazan and Sterlitamak manufactured and prepared more than 70 machine tools for dispatch during 2023. The holding, managed by RT-Capital within Rostec, said it had completed its production programme for that year.
The group plans to double machine-tool production during 2024 and continue developing new machine and component models. That target applies across Stan’s factories; the Sterlitamak cluster has its own later schedule and proposed capacities.

Service and equipment development
Stanremservice joined the holding in September 2023 to service machine tools. A first repair and service division was established that month at the S.P. Gorbunov Kazan Aviation Plant. In October, the Lipetsk RT-Stankoinstrument factory, specialising in universal grinding machines, passed into the holding’s trust management.
Stan also signed cooperation agreements with Chinese numerical-control-system manufacturer HCNC during 2023. In November, the group presented its STSh EKO robotic grinding centre at the CIIE exhibition in Shanghai.
The Sterlitamak production site
NPO Stankostroenie operates on the former Sterlitamak machine-tool plant’s base. The site’s history reaches back to 1941, when a factory from Odessa was evacuated to Sterlitamak. That earlier enterprise had originated in the mid-nineteenth century. Its production facilities came under the Stan group’s control in 2011.
The predecessor legal entity, Sterlitamak–M.T.E., underwent bankruptcy proceedings. A June 2023 decision closed the insolvency procedure; the Eighteenth Arbitration Court of Appeal in Chelyabinsk upheld that decision in September. The former company’s proceedings concern the predecessor entity, while NPO Stankostroenie is the operating manufacturer at the site.
