IKEA plans Dallas–University Park small-format store
IKEA U.S. plans a two-level Dallas store with 3,200 takeaway items, supported by online ordering, collection and delivery.

A smaller Dallas destination
IKEA U.S. plans to open its Dallas–University Park store at The Shops at Park Lane in late 2025. The two-level, 63,000-square-foot location will offer 3,200 products, including food, for immediate purchase. Customers will also be able to order the full range online, with free collection or paid delivery, according to the company announcement.
U.S. chief executive and chief sustainability officer Javier Quiñones describes the expansion as bringing IKEA closer to daily routines. Market manager Ben Sandoval highlights products, food and staff together. Dallas would become the eleventh Texas location, across these formats:
- Five full-size stores.
- Three Plan & Order points.
- Small stores in San Marcos, Rockwall and, as planned, Dallas.
The earlier U.S. investment programme
In April 2023, IKEA announced more than $2.2 billion of U.S. investment over three years. Its first phase envisaged eight new stores, nine Plan & Order points and 900 collection locations. The company expected the expansion to create more than 2,000 jobs. These were programme targets in the earlier announcement, rather than reported results from the Dallas project.
The programme also covered existing stores and the delivery network. Stores were to retain their role as places for home-furnishing ideas while handling more parcels. Better replenishment and last-mile capabilities were intended to make deliveries faster and more affordable. This placed store development alongside changes to how online orders reach customers.

A separately dated international plan
Ingka Group, the largest IKEA retailer, had announced a different investment programme in May 2022: more than €3 billion in new and existing stores by the end of 2023. The announcement covered international expansion through a combination of large stores and smaller customer meeting places.
At that point, Ingka reported opening 16 large and small locations since September 2021. Planned city stores in Stockholm and Toronto illustrated the smaller format: more than 2,000 products to take home immediately, with larger furniture delivered. The euro programme and the later U.S. dollar commitment have different dates and coverage; they are presented separately here.

More collection points during 2025
Retail Dive reported in February 2025 that IKEA was adding eight U.S. locations during spring and summer. Seven were Plan & Order points with pickup, including three in California and others in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Oregon and Arizona. That earlier announcement concerned a different set of locations from the subsequent Dallas proposal.
The distinction between formats matters to shoppers: the February additions were predominantly planning, ordering and collection points. The Dallas announcement instead specifies a small store with products available to take away. Both announcements sit within IKEA’s stated effort to bring shopping and collection closer to customers.
